IONIA COUNTY, MICH. - One person has died after a crash that closed M-66 for nearly five hours.
It happened at 5:35 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 28.
Michigan State Police say 39-year-old Elizabeth Vanderhoff of Ionia was driving north in her 2003 Pontiac Aztec when she crossed the centerline. Her vehicle hit a 2008 Chrysler Town and Country driven by 69-year-old Harvey Hansen of Battle Creek.
Vanderhoff was pronounced dead at the scene. Her passenger, Andrew Fox, was taken to the hospital along with Hansen. There is no word on their conditions.
When WZZM 13 originally contacted Michigan State Police late Monday night, we were told two people had died. MSP later sent out a press release saying Vanderhoff was the only person killed. Sgt. Bradley Campbell confirmed that correction to WZZM 13 via e-mail at 2:16 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 29.
According to M-DOT, the road opened back up around 10:30 p.m.
If you know anything about the crash, you're asked to call Michigan State Police at their Lakeview Post, (855) 677-9178 and speak with Trooper Fick.
