LOWELL TOWNSHIP, MICH. - Michigan State Police are investigating a single car crash that sent eight people to the hospital overnight.
Authorities say the 38-year-old driver was traveling westbound on Interstate 96 near Morse Lake Road shortly before 2 a.m., Monday, April 3. That driver drove into the median, lost control and began to roll over, according to police.
Five of the eight people inside the vehicle were ejected.
Four adult passengers were transported to Butterworth Hospital. Four children were taken to Helen DeVos Children's Hospital.
Police say the crash victims are from Muskegon and were traveling from Detroit home at the time of the crash. Several of the passengers were not wearing seatbelts.
Police do not believe alcohol played a role in the crash.
