Motorcyclist dead after being thrown from bike in high-speed crash

EDWARDSBURG, MICH. - A 33-year-old motorcyclist is dead after a high-speed crash in Edwardsburg overnight on Saturday.

According to the Ontwa Township Edwardsburg Police Department, officers were called to US-12 near Carter Road just before 12:30 a.m. on reports of a possible accident.

Once on the scene, officers found a motorcycle helmet in the roadway, the motorcyclist -- Joshua Pethick, 33, of Edwardsburg -- was found dead.

Investigation shows that Pethick was driving westbound at a high speed, hit the guardrail and was thrown from his bike and landed in a ditch. Police believe that Pethick was wearing the helmet found at the scene.
