BALTIMORE TOWNSHIP, MICH. - M-37 was completely closed in Barry County after a multi-vehicle crash this afternoon.
The crash happened on M-37 between Sagar and McGlynn roads around 1:30 p.m., Monday, April 10.
Three vehicles, including a semi, were involved.
According to deputies, a Ford Escape stopped in the northbound lane of M-37 for a vehicle in front of him making a left turn. That's when a cargo van was not able to stop and hit the rear driver side of the Escape before continuing into the southbound travel lane.
A semi was traveling in the southbound lane and was not able to stop.
After the collision, the semi and van caught fire. Both drivers were able to escape before the fires started.
The driver of the van, a 30-year-old man from Battle Creek, was taken to Borgess Hospital by ambulance. Deputies say he was conscious and alert at the scene.
No one else was injured.
