Police officer injured, patrol car 'heavily damaged' after being hit

BATTLE CREEK, MICH. - A sergeant with the Battle Creek Police Department was treated at Bronson Battle Creek and released after his patrol car was struck by another vehicle just before midnight on Friday.

Officers reported the crash at 10:55 p.m. near the intersection of Meachem Avenue and Eldred Street.

Police said the driver of the other car was arrested on charges of driving under the influence of drugs and driving with a suspended license.

Police said the patrol car was heavily damaged.
