PORTAGE, MICH. - The ramp from eastbound I-94 to northbound U.S. 131 is back open after an accident closed it for several hours on Wednesday. Portage Police and Fire investigators say that at 2:44 p.m. a semi tipped over, trapping the driver inside. The 44 year old Niles man, was removed from the truck and taken to Bronson Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The semi was carrying more than 20 tons of scrap paper that had to be unloaded before the trailer could be moved. The ramp was closed for several hours reopening shortly before 8:00 p.m. The accident remains under investigation by the Michigan State Police Motor Carrier Division.
