Semi-truck crash closes US 131 at West River Drive

A crash involving three semis and an SUV halted traffic on U.S. 131 north of Grand Rapids this afternoon.

Update: The highway has reopened to traffic.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- Southbound U.S. 131 at West River Drive is closed because of a crash involving at least one semi-truck, according to the Michigan Department of Transportation.

The crash happened around 2 p.m. Monday, Sept 12, and the highway reopened around 4:30 p.m.

Motorists are asked to take Exit 91 and turn right onto West River Drive to get around the crash. From there, turn right onto Lamoreaux Drive, turn left onto Turner Avenue, turn left onto the southbound U.S. 131 ramp.

Traffic from southbound U.S. 131 to eastbound and westbound I-96 also should take Exit 91 and turn right onto West River Drive. Afterward, turn right onto Lamoreaux Drive then left onto M-37/Alpine Avenue to get to I-96.
