Traffic: Kentwood crash sends 1 person to the hospital

KENTWOOD, MICH. - One driver is hospitalized after a crash in Kentwood Tuesday morning.

According to the Kentwood Police Department, the crash happened just before 5:45 a.m. on 48th Street and Eastern Avenue.

At this time, the traffic light at the intersection was flashing red on 48th Street and yellow on Eastern Avenue. A driver was going westbound on 48th and did not yield at the light. That driver hit a car going north on Eastern.

Police say the crash caused the car on Eastern to get pushed into another car, which was also going north in the next lane over.

The driver who failed to yield needed to be extricated and was taken to the hospital. The two other people involved in the crash suffered only minor injuries.
