Two hospitalized after 28th St. crash

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WZZM) -- A crash that briefly blocked eastbound 28th Street near Kalamazoo Ave. sent two people to the hospital Friday afternoon.

The four-vehicle crash was reported around 3:25 p.m., according to GRPD.

Investigators on the scene said they're going to try figuring out if a mechanical problem or a medical issue caused the crash; they say an eastbound SUV suddenly started driving erratically and pinballed off other vehicles.

That SUV's driver was hospitalized, as was the driver of a box truck involved. That driver had to be extricated.

Another SUV, carrying a family, was also hit; no one in that vehicle was hurt.

The fourth vehicle, described as a white car, took minor damage and was able to drive away from the scene.
