Woman hit by car while walking with client

Woman hit by car in Van Buren County

ARLINGTON TOWNSHIP, MICH. - She was doing her job when she was hit by a car in Van Buren County, and now a 24-year-old woman from Kalamazoo is in the hospital.

Deputies say they got a call around 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 29 about a woman who had been hit by a Chevy Impala on 48th Avenue, northeast of the Village of Lawrence. The woman, who works in the area, was walking along the road with a client at the time.

The woman was not responding when emergency crews arrived, but she was breathing. They took her to Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo where she was treated for head and back injuries. However, it's not clear how she's doing right now. Her name has not been released.

Deputies say the driver, who was not injured, didn't see the two people walking before the crash happened. It was dusk at the time, and the stretch of road where this happened was not lit.
