Volunteers to help seniors displaced by fire recover belongings

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. (WZZM) -- Residents of the fire-damaged Lakeview Meadows senior apartment complex will get some help recovering belongings from the facility this weekend.

JONAH and the Community Emergency Response Team are putting together work groups between 9:30am and 5:00pm on Saturday and Sunday.

Organizers need able-bodied volunteers to help. If you're interested, you can contact JONAH president Sheri Harris at sheriharrismi@gmail.com. If you're signing up a group to help, let Harris know how many people you're bringing and whether you're bringing any trucks, trailers, or vans to help haul things.

Volunteers will meet at Lakeview Meadows, 890 West Territorial Road.

A Monday evening fire displaced 50 residents.
