GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) -- Before Doppler, "NEXRAD," and the hour-by-hour computer animations, there was a person with a marker doing weather in front of dry-erase board.
That's the way many WZZM 13 viewers saw our weathermen -- and women, too -- tell them about rain, snow, sleet and other storms.
On Friday's edition of WZZM 13 News at 6 p.m., chief meteorologist George Lessens broke out the board and did it the "old school" way.
You can see his demonstration -- and some vintage Lessens forecasting from decades past -- in the video box on this web page.
