The new museum exhibit features items from area breweries. The Hopcat even created a specialty brew in its honor.
CHICAGO (KUSA) - A new study out of the University of Illinois at Chicago suggests drinking beer may make people smarter, especially when problem solving.
Researchers at the university compared two groups of men. They gave one group a couple of beers, while the other group just got one.
The researchers gave both groups some word puzzles and brain teasers. They found those who had been drinking were better at creative problem solving by 40 percent and were faster at answering the questions.
However, the drinkers turned out to be worse at memory quizzes. Researchers say that's because alcohol diminishes the brain's working memory capacity.
