The weather during the month of October was a little cloudier and cooler than usual and a lot wetter than usual.
Temperatures during October averaged 50.8°F, 0.2°F below average, and it was 1.8°F cooler than last year (52.6°F). This was the first month with below average temperatures since September 2011. Twelve days were warmer than usual, eighteen were cooler and one was considered average. The highest temperature occurred on October 25 with 78°F while the lowest temperature occurred on October 8 and 16 with 32°F. The growing season lasted 161 days, one day less than usual (162 days), which began on April 29 and ended on October 8.
Precipitation was well above average last month measuring 6.32", making it the seventh wettest October on record, which was 3.06" more than usual and 3.19" more than last year (3.13"). It was the wettest month since July 2011 when 6.87" fell. There were seventeen days with measurable precipitation, which is eight days more than usual (11).
Snowfall was below average with just a trace in October, 0.5" less than usual but exactly the same as last year (trace.)
There was 42.8% of the possible sunshine last month, 1.5% less than usual and 13.5% less than last year (56.3%). There were three clear days - three less than average (6), sixteen partly cloudy days - eight more than usual (8), and twelve cloudy days - five less than average (17).
Thunderstorms were recorded on October 14, 22, and 23.

Daily snowfall records: A trace of snow on October 10 tied the record set in 1906 and 1932.
Daily wind records: The highest wind gust from the SW at 48 mph on October 5 broke the previous record of SW at 41 mph set in 1941. The highest wind gust from the W at 44 mph on October 11 broke the previous record of SW at 41 mph set in 1977. The highest wind gust from the S at 40 mph on October 17 tied the record of W at 40 mph set in 2011.
Daily barometer records: A record low barometer reading of 29.28" on October 18 broke the previous record of 29.29" set in 1981.
