GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WZZM) Vandals set fire to the American Flag overnight at the U.S. Marine Center on Monroe Avenue in Grand Rapids.

The vandal took down the flag and charred it. They also took a chunk out of the memorial.

Veterans at the American Legion down the way say they're upset and disappointed about what happened. They take the flag very seriously.

Ron Kerr says, "They (the vandal) probably has no idea what they did to folks like myself and others that have served."
