UPDATE AT 3:45 P.M. (WZZM) -- Wyoming Police say the deadly shooting of a 28-year-old man actually occurred in Kentwood, and that the attack was not random.
Wyoming Police issued a news release Monday afternoon, stating that they determined the crime was not "a random act of violence," and that led them to discover the actual crime scene in the city of Kentwood.
Wyoming Police say they are now assisting Kentwood Police in the investigation.
Late Monday, Kentwood Chief of Police Richard Mattice told reporters,"I don't know that it was a premeditated case but it was a case that did involve criminal activity to begin with, meaning there was potential drug sale occurring at the time of the homicide."
Mattice would not say where the crime scene was.
Mattice noted the last murder to occur in Kentwood was two years ago this month.
Police have not released the victim's identity until all family members have been notified. They did say he was a 28-year old Wyoming man.
Mattice called it a "complex case that will take some time."
