Bockheim's family say they're praying someone comes forward with information.
GRANDVILLE, Mich. (WZZM) -- The family of a man who police say was killed during an armed robbery is asking for the public to help solve the case.
The family of Michael Bockheim, 28, contacted WZZM 13 News, hoping that bringing media attention to the shooting will lead to the arrest of the suspects.
The family say Bockheim had been at his daughter's birthday party Sunday night, and was in a friend's car.
They drove to the Countryside Townhouses in Kentwood. According to the family, two people approached and demanded money. Soon after, two shots were fired, one in the air, another into the vehicle. The shot into the car left Bockheim mortally wounded.
Bockheim's friend drove him to Wyoming, where police found them. Bockheim died from his injuries.
Police have said the robbery was drug-related, but Bockheim's family say he had no role in any illegal activities that night.
Bockheim's family say they're praying someone comes forward with information.
"It was a senseless act, and I want to know who did this and I want them to pay for it," says the victim's mother, Jane Bockheim.
Visitation for Michael Bockheim is Thursday, January 19 from 2-4 p.m., and 6-8 p.m. at Cook Funeral Home in Grandville. The family will have a private funeral service on Friday.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Kentwood Police Department at (616) 698-6580, or Silent Observer at (616) 774-2345.
