WOLF LAKE, Mich. (WZZM) -- Administrators say a disruptive woman who walked into a school in the Oakridge district forced them to implement lockdown procedures on the campus.

The incident happened around noon Wednesday at Lower Elementary School in the 5200 block of Bryn Mawr Place in Wolf Lake.

Oakridge superintendent Tom Livezey sent a letter home to parents Wednesday explaining what happened.

Livezey says a woman living in the neighborhood of Lower Elementary walked into the school and became "very disruptive," yelled at students then fell into a group of children when she stumbled in the hallway.

One child suffered bumps and bruises when the woman fell on her, but no other students were hurt.

Because of the woman's presence in the school, teachers began implementing their lockdown procedures -- securing students in classrooms without allowing them to enter or exit.  At the same time, staff members escorted the woman to an isolated area and called 911.  Muskegon County deputies responded and assessed the situation, but did not arrest the woman.  Livezey says the woman's husband came to the school and took her to a Muskegon-area hospital.

The superintendent says the woman was able to enter the building because it came at a time when students attending morning pre-school and kindergarten classes were being dismissed and afternoon students were arriving.

In the letter to parents, Livezey says, "Your children were safe and well cared for by the quick response of our staff and well-practiced procedures."

Livezey says the woman is not a parent of an Oakridge student, nor does she have any association with the district.
