Police: Arson suspect in crash near Fremont

SHERIDAN TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WZZM) -- Michigan State Police say a suspect in a Newaygo County arson is one of the people injured in a crash near Fremont.

Troopers say around noon Tuesday, the suspect started a house fire in the 3000 block of 136th Street in Ashland Township, which is south of Grant.

Three hours later, they say the man crashed into another vehicle at M-82 and Luce Avenue in Sheridan Township, three miles south of Fremont.

Troopers say there were four people in the car hit by the suspect's vehicle.

Aero Med flew the suspect and one person from the car to Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids.  Their conditions are not known.

Three other people in the car were transported to the hospital by ambulance.  Their conditions have not been released.

Troopers say a woman was hurt in the Ashland Township fire.  Her injuries are described as non-life threatening.
