A man dressed as a clown robbed the Miti-Mini Superette at Giddings Avenue and Hall Street SE.
GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) -- Operators of a southeast Grand Rapids market say a man dressed as a clown held them up Monday night.
It happened around 8:15 p.m. at the Miti-Mini Superette at Giddings Avenue and Hall Street SE.
Workers in the store say the hold-up man was dressed in a clown or court jester's costume, and wore a black ski-mask. They say he was armed with a single-barreled shotgun.
Henry Skinner faced the suspect:"If it had a went off - that close up - it would have took me out" he told WZZM 13.
Store owner Sunny Dhoorh says the robber escaped with about $1500 in cash, but his employee's safety is of greater concern.
"I have instruction - whenever they ask for money just give them, save your life...money's not important life is more - we can't replace a life we can replace money anytime" Dhoorh said Tuesday.
Dhoorh has surveillance video that shows the robbery occuring.
Police followed the suspect's tracks in the snow, but were not able to find him.
No one was hurt.
