Former Wayland Police Chief Dan Miller
UPDATE AT 6:45 P.M. (WZZM) -- Wayland's police chief says allegations of irregularity that have led to his being placed on paid administrative leave are the result of an "ugly divorce."
WZZM 13 spoke to Miller Monday night after learning from Wayland city officials about his being placed on leave.
Miller says he was already on medical leave for a knee problem when interim city manager Terry Hofmeyer first told him of some allegations against the police department.
The chief says he has asked who made the allegations, but was told it was something Michigan State Police would look into as part of their investigation.
Miller, who just finalized his divorce, believes the allegations are the result of the break-up of his 22-year marriage.
Miller is set to come off medical leave on Friday, at which time he will officially be on paid administrative leave.
The chief expects to be cleared of any allegations of wrongdoing.
WAYLAND, Mich. (WZZM) -- The chief of Wayland's Police Department is on paid administrative leave while Michigan State Police investigate allegations of "irregularities," according to the city's interim manager.
Terry Hofmeyer says he gave Chief Dan Miller a letter on January 3, telling him he was on leave during the investigation.
