COMSTOCK PARK, Mich. (WZZM) -- A new baseball season will be here soon. Fifth-Third Ballpark will have a new videoboard. And a new scoreboard. And a new batch of young players.

So of course some new menu items are a must for 2012.

The West Michigan Whitecaps and Gordon Food Service held a food sampling on Thursday morning to try to find the best of the best ideas. Among some of the noteworthy items:

Tempura-fried banana pepper rings (Tom Clyde's personal favorite)

Deep-fried peanut butter and jelly sandwiches

Korean tacos

Chicken cheddar cheesy Polish sausage

White Castle casserole

The Whitecaps say they'll choose about a half dozen of the foods for the actual season menu based on popularity and practicality. They expect to make their final decisions by early March.
