HUDSONVILLE, Mich. (WZZM)- With only one week left until the Michigan primary, the wife of a Republican Presidential hopeful shared a personal side of her husband.
Ann Romney was campaigning for her husband, Mitt Romney, in Ottawa County. She touched on several emotional topics and urged voters to get to the polls.
Ann Romney shared stories about her Michigan roots with a crowd in Hudsonville.
"I always like to tell people where I spent my summers, in Manistee," says Ann Romney.
Ann Romney was not shaken by recent polls that show her husband neck and neck with opponent Rick Santorum.
"It was the same way four years ago and then we started getting our message out and turned it around, " says Ann Romney.
The message at the Republican fundraiser in Hudsonville was as much a personal one as a political one. "I've had multiple sclerosis and breast cancer. For me, its about being compassionate to people going through tough times, " says Ann Romney.
Ann Romney told a compelling story of how her husband helped her beat the odds at the Olympic games in Salt Lake City. "My husband gave that torch to me, and my children helped raise my arm, and run that torch with me to Salt Lake City,"says Ann Romney.
Romney says her husband's personal side compliments his record of success. "He's the only one who can beat Barack Obama, and he's the one who can turn around this economy," says Ann Romney.
