COMSTOCK PARK, Mich. (WZZM) - Four Whitecaps pitchers combined on a five-hit shut out as West Michigan blanked Bowling Green 4-0 in the Caps 2012 home opener.
West Michigan (2-2) scored two in the first on a pair of infield RBI singles from Brandon Loy and Steven Moya.
The Caps added two more runs in the sixth on a home run from Dean Green and another RBI single from Moya.
Whitecaps starter Brennan Smith pitched five innings of four-hit ball for the win.
The Whitecaps front office staff says 5,173 attended the game which lasted only two hours and six minutes.
