Prisoner escapes with deputy's gun

ROSCOMMON COUNTY, Mich. (WZZM) -- Police are searching parts of Roscommon County in Northern Michigan after a prisoner being transported by a sheriff's deputy escaped with a gun.

It happened around 10:15 a.m. Monday as an Arenac County deputy was transporting Everett Robinson from the Roscommon County jail to Standish. 

According to 9&10 News in Cadillac, Robinson began assaulting the deputy driving the transport van.  Robinson managed to reach through the bars and take the deputy's gun before running out of the vehicle.

Police are concentrating the search around M-55 between M-157 and I-75 in Backus Township.

According to UpNorthLive.com, Robinson was being held in Roscommon County on home invasion charges, and was being transported to Arenac County for a court appearance.
