KENTWOOD, Mich. (WZZM) - Kentwood police have arrested a man who, they say, committed at least one of the hotel robberies along the 28th street corridor.

Julian Loviska, 22, is charged in the unarmed robbery of the Sleep In Hotel and Suites on 29th Street.

On Friday, Kentwood police say they got a tip call about the suspect's location. Loviska was later arrested at his grandmother's house in Kentwood. Detectives say he was wanted on a similar crime in California. And when he was arrested, he was making preparations to flee the area. They also say they found evidence like a pair of shoes and grocery bags that were used in the robbery.

On Monday afternoon, the judge also indicated that Loviska would be charged as a fourth felony offender. He could face up to life in prison, if convicted.

The Sleep In robbery occurred on May 18th. At the time, Kentwood police released surveillance photos to the public, hoping someone would recognize the suspect. According to court documents, the robber entered the hotel, ordered the clerk to place money in a bag, or he was going to kill him.

During the month of May, there were three other robberies at hotels along the 28th. The Sleep In was robbed again in early June. At the time, Kentwood police said they believed they were all connected.

So far, Loviska is only charged in the Sleep In robbery and the others remain under investigation. Loviska is currently lodged at the Kent County Jail on a $250,000 bond.
