LANSING, Mich. (AP) -- Republican U.S. Senate candidate Pete Hoekstra is running an ad vowing to fight "Obamacare."
The 30-second ad shows C-SPAN footage of Hoekstra standing on the Capitol steps in Washington during a November 2009 rally against the Affordable Care Act.
At the time, Hoekstra was a congressman from Holland representing Michigan's 2nd district. He hefts a heavy copy of the legislation at the GOP-sponsored rally and says, "Madam Speaker, throw out this bill!"
The ad began running Saturday statewide. Campaign spokesman Greg VanWoerkom won't say how much was being spent to air the ad, or which broadcast or cable stations are carrying it.
Hoekstra's other ads have labeled Democratic incumbent Debbie Stabenow as "Debbie Spend It Now."
Hoekstra is running against fellow Republicans Clark Durant, Gary Glenn and Randy Hekman.
