Model trains are being set up at DeVos Place.
GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) - Thousands of model train enthusiasts are descending on DeVos Place to set up the National Train Show where hundreds of model trains and miles of track are being laid.
Today was spent debugging the track and putting the finishing touches on the large scale city and mountain model terrain for the show that opens on Friday.
Robert Amsler, Manager of the National Model Railroad Association, expects 20 to 30 thousand tickets sold for the annual event that picks a new host city each year.
The National Train Show will open to the public Friday from Noon until 6:00 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.
