FRUITPORT TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WZZM) - The stand-off between Muskegon County Sheriff's deputies and an armed gunman is over, according to the Muskegon Chronicle.
The standoff began around 7 p.m. at a house in the 5500 block of Pontaluna.
Officers were forced to back away from the house around 8 p.m. when the gunman fired several shots. Police also pushed back a WZZM 13 crew, telling them they were "in the line of fire."
The Muskegon County Sheriff's Department used an armored vehicle to get closer to the house. Emergency dispatchers also indicate that officers have made contact with the suspect via telephone.
The Muskegon Chronicle is reporting that the gunman surrendered around 10:45 p.m. and was taken to the hospital.
