Amanda Lankey's body was found in the Manistee National Forest in 2004.
NEWAYGO COUNTY, Michigan (WZZM) - A second person has been arrested and charged in connection with the investigation into the death of Amanda Lankey.
Marcus Wallis turned himself in morning to the Newaygo County Jail. He has since been released from the jail.
Newaygo County Prosecutor Robert Springstead says Marcus Wallis is charged with two counts of perjury in relation to an investigative subpeona. The two perjury charges are life felonies, because the original charge in question, murder, was a life felony. The prosecutor questioned Wallis earlier this year under that investigative subpeona.
Amanda Lankey was killed in 2004. She was last seen at the home of Cecil Wallis. He was later named a person of interest in the case. Cecil Wallis committed suicide in 2011.
Earlier this week, Candace Baumgartner pled not guilty to perjury charges related to Amanda Lankey's case. Baumgartner is the sister of Cecil Wallis.
Prosecutor Springstead says he did not interview anyone else under investigative subpeona. However, he says there could possibly be more investigative subpeona's in the future. Springstead does not rule out the possibility of more charges. He says he is continuing to investigate.
