GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (AP) -- A west Michigan man who discovered a veteran's gravestone while working on a landscaping project in his backyard is still trying to figure out how it got there.

Nick Looman recently made the discovery while removing fencing. Internet sleuthing revealed the marble gravestone belonged to Henry Collis, who served in the Spanish-American War and died in 1962.
Officials later told him that Collis was buried at a veteran's cemetery.

But Collis' gravestone at the cemetery differs from his military service records, indicating he served in World War I.

Looman tells MLive.com he still doesn't know why a second gravestone was unearthed in his backyard. A neighbor suggested someone pray over the yard.

Meanwhile, Looman plans more research to find out who lived in the home before him.
