MUSKEGON, Mich. (WZZM) - By next summer authorities will have another tool to respond to emergencies on the water.

This week, the Department of Homeland Security awarded a $300,000 grant to Muskegon County. The money will be used to buy and equip a rescue boat like one Ottawa County purchased a few years ago.

The boat will be docked in Muskegon and emergency officials will use it to search for missing swimmers, respond to boating accidents, and provide a security presence in Muskegon's harbor.
