Hundreds of people turned out for day two of Battle at the Burg, at Cannonsburg Ski Area.

BELMONT, Mich. (WZZM)-Cannonsburg Ski Area was taken over by bikers Saturday.

Hundreds of people turned out for day two of Battle at the Burg. More than 150 riders competed on an extended trail that included a lot of uphill climbing. There was even a race for some of the youngest athletes on two wheels.

"For me, it's really important to make the event a family event, so we wanted to do the kids race. We wanted to have families come out and spend the day and watch some bike racing," said Matt Schmuker. "Maybe we got a few people turned onto racing, maybe we got a few kids turned on to the sport. The idea was to get everybody outside, enjoy the weather, open them up to a new experience and just have a good Saturday afternoon."

Many local bike manufacturers and shops also turned out for Battle at the Burg to showcase what products West Michigan has to offer.

This was the first year of Battle at the Burg, and organizers hope to do it again next year. Proceeds from the races will go to providing clean drinking water to those who don't have it.
