(GRAND RAPIDS BUSINESS JOURNAL) - Early data compiled by Smith Travel Research for Travel Michigan indicates 2012 is shaping up to be a very strong year for Michigan's tourism industry, with the statewide average hotel occupancy rate for the year through July reported at 56 percent.
According to Travel Michigan, that is the highest July YTD average since the state's tourism promotion arm began tracking the data in 2004.
