ALLENDALE, Mich. (WZZM) - Isiah Grimes will start at quarterback for the first time in his college career Saturday night when the undefeated and fourth-ranked Grand Valley State Lakers host Ohio Dominican at Lubbers Stadium. The Lakers lost starter Heath Parling for the season to a torn ACL Saturday night.

"It's a great opportunity," Grimes told WZZM on Tuesday. "It's really bad what happened to Heath. But I feel confident. The offensive line is very experienced. My skill players, they're very experienced. I think we'll go out and pick up where we left off."

"Isiah's a very confident athlete," says head coach Matt Mitchell. "He has a very live arm. He can really throw the football to all the spots on the football field we need him to throw to. He just doesn't have the experience."

Grimes, a redshirt sophomore, stands six-foot-six and 240 pounds. He has seen limited action at GVSU but was a star at South Haven High School. As a senior there, he threw for 2,835 yards and 30 touchdowns while rushing for 212 yards and four touchdowns.
