EUREKA TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WZZM) - A 17-month-old child nearly drowned Thursday evening in a pond near Greenville. It happened around 6:30 p.m. in the 4300 block of West Wise Road.
The Greenville Daily News reports a parent was performing CPR near the edge of the pond when Montcalm County Sheriff's deputies arrived on the scene.
A short time later the child began breathing on his own and had a strong pulse.
Authorities say it appears the boy was wandering and fell into the shallow pond, which is three to four feet deep. Family members found the child in the pond and called 911.
The boy is expected to have a full recovery.
