GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) - Grand Rapids Police have arrested a man for allegedly assaulting a 14-year-old girl as she was walking along, late at night.
Donte Dujaun Burton, 27 was arrested Thursday. He was charged with assault with intent to commit a felony and attempted unlawful imprisonment. He was arraigned Friday afternoon.
On September 17, investigators say Burton approached the 14-year-old girl as she was walking in the area of Leonard Street & Herrick Avenue NW. Police say Burton was hiding in nearby bushes and grabbed the girl, then attempted to drag her toward the bushes, but she was able to escape.
Grand Rapids Police issued a computer generated image of the suspect.
Records show Burton spent nine days in the Kent County Jail earlier this month for marijuana use and driving without a license. He was released on Saturday, September 15. The alleged attack happened two days later.
