WHAT'S SO FUN ABOUT JOHN BALL ZOO'S ZOO GOES BOO?
(Grand Rapids, MI) Zoos seem to have become the it spot for Halloween family fun. Over 12,000 people came to Zoo Goes Boo at John Ball Zoo in 2011 and the Zoo expects over 16,000 moms, dads and little ghosts and goblins in 2012.
This six day Halloween themed event at John Ball Zoo is safe and family-friendly. It offers something for every age and, most importantly - it is an excellent way to get kids outdoors! This year's Zoo Goes Boo will span over two weekends:. Fri, Sat, 10/19 and 20, and Fri, Sat, and Sun, Oct 26, 27, and 28. Hours are 10:00am to 3:00pm on the Fridays and Saturday and starting a little later on Sunday, 12:00noon to 4:00pm.
The most popular activity at Zoo Goes Boo is trick-or-treating on the Kooky-not-Spooky Trail. Thanks to many local organizations such as Circle Theatre, Opera Grand Rapids, Academy of Dance Arts, All Weather Seal , Nylaan Dentistry, and Bob Evans, to name a few, there's over a dozen treat stations every day of the event. There are plenty of eye-popping decorations around the Zoo including giant inflatable monsters, a creepy nest of spiders, and what the Zoo expects will be the hit among the princess set, a real live mermaid and the tooth fairy! In other parts of the Zoo families can race thru a hay maze, join a sing-along, jump into a drum circle or get up-close-and-personal with the animals!
Zoo Goes Boo is the Zoo's second largest fundraising event of the year. Its success is due to the generous support of the lead sponsors, Blue Care Network, Meijer Stores, and Metro PCS.
Zoo Goes Boo is a steal at $7.00 per person which includes all the activity, treat bags, and entertainment. $1.00 off admission coupons are available at all participating Grand Rapids area MEIJER stores (general admission only). Zoo members are only $3.00. For more info: www.johnballzoosociety.org OR (616)336-4300. John Ball Zoo is located at 1300 W. Fulton, one mile west of downtown Grand Rapids.
