KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WZZM) -- A suspect in a deadly weekend shooting is now being jailed on homicide charges.

Tyrein Deanthony Sheppard, 19, appeared in court Tuesday on a six county warrant, including charges of open murder, assault with intent to murder and felony firearms.  Sheppard is being held in the Kalamazoo County Jail without any bond.

The shooting happened around 1 a.m. Sunday in the 4200 block of Lakesedge Drive.  Officers responded to a call of shots fired and found a 23-year-old Kalamazoo man had been shot.  The victim later died from his injuries at Bronson Hospital.

A second victim -- an 18-year-old man -- was also found at the scene.  His injuries were not life threatening and he is being treated at Bronson.

Investigators say Sheppard is reponsible for the shooting, though they are not saying what led up to the incident.
