Holland, Mich. (WZZM) A 10 year old girl is recovering after stepping in front of a car on the way to school.
It happened around 7:30 Wednesday morning at the intersection of 40th Street and South Washington Avenue. Police say the girl was walking with two friends on her way to Jefferson School. Witnesses say the victim was running back and forth into the road. The girls friends reportedly told her to stop when she ran in front of a 2007 White Dodge Nitro.
The driver of the car, Mary Clawson of Allengan, was traveling westbound on 40th Street when the accident happened. Clawson was not hurt. The 10 year old victim suffered a broken arm, bruises and lacerations. She was treated at the scene and then taken to Holland Hospital.
The driver of the car was not speeding and had the right of way traveling through on a green light and no citations were issued in this crash.
Police say children are often impulsive, especially on Halloween. They are urging drivers to be careful tonight as children head out to trick or treat.
