Lansing, Mich. (WZZM) Campaign finance complaints filed against Republican House Speaker Jase Bolger and Representative Roy Schmidt are being dismissed.

Democrats filed the complaints following Schmidt's surprise party switch from Democratic to Republican last May.

Democratic Party Chairman Mark Brewer received a letter this week informing him of the decision.  It says the state could find no legal wrong-doing in connection to the case.  However, the Secretary of State's office is conducting a separate investigation that Rep. Schmidt may have committed violations of the Michigan Campaign Finance Act.

The state also dismissed a complaint that House Speaker Bolger
failed to set up a legal defense fund, saying he was not required by law to do so.
