GRAND HAVEN, Mich. (The Grand Haven Tribune) -

The YMCA and the Ski Bowl are closed as a result.

"No one else is affected by the lack of water," said Grand Haven's Public Works Director Bill Hunter.

He asked the public to stay off the hill for their safety and so heavy equipment needed in the area can work efficiently.

The washout is located north of the north YMCA parking lot, almost directly behind the North Ottawa Water System filtration plant.

The water main that broke is one of three lines coming from the plant that supply water to the tanks at the top of the hill.

Hunter said that the 2-million gallon tank was almost full, so he wasn't really concerned about supplying water to the community.
