MUSKEGON, Mich. (WZZM) - The Community Foundation for Muskegon County reached a new record high for donations in 2012. The foundation nearly doubled its previous record with just over $19 million last year. Half of that was given by an anonymous couple.
The couple wants their gift to be used on a variety of projects to make Muskegon County a better place to live and work. Chris McGuigan, the President of the Community Foundation for Muskegon County says "It makes us as a staff sort of be grateful for the foundation that we have and that we are credible enough that a donor believes that they can do big things through us."
The foundation may add a staff position to manage the money. The donor couple indicates they plan to make additional donations this year.
