GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM)- Three local arts organizations are teaming up to host CELEBRATE! A Community Arts Day to be held on Saturday March 9, from 9 a.m.-12:45 pm.
Artists Creating Together, The Girls Choral Academy, and Grandville Avenue Arts & Humanities are all West Michigan nonprofits with arts driven missions coming together in effort to bring an interactive arts day to the community.
The cost-free event will be held at the Cook Arts Center and is open to the public. The day will include performances by each of the organizations individually, as well as a large celebratory performance combining two of the groups. Hands-on art workshops will be spread throughout the venue where attendees can learn about art in its many forms, including drumming and break dancing, do various arts and crafts, and observe artwork from children all across Grand Rapids.
Josh Dunigan, ACT teacher and artistic director of the ACTion Drummers, along with Katie Brower, ACT program director stopped by the Weekend Morning News to share all the details.
