New Roosevelt Bar, Grand Rapids.
GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) - A Grand Rapids bar is closed and its liquor license is for sale after repeated troubles led the Grand Rapids Police to challenge its operation.
A hearing was scheduled Tuesday with the City Commission for the New Roosevelt Bar Tuesday, but that hearing was cancelled when the owner of the bar agreed to close it and sell the liquor license. The Grand Rapids Police Department was going to ask the commission to not renew the liquor license of the bar.
Four people were shot at the bar on February 22nd. One person was killed in another shooting at the bar in November. A report to city commissioners showed police had been called to the bar 35 times since March of 2012.
