LUDINGTON, Mich. (Ludington Daily News) - Scottville Mayor Joe Baxter has resigned his position effective immediately.
Baxter, age 62, was arrested this morning on a bench warrant for violating conditions of his sentence after police say he violated terms of his recent sentencing for impaired driving.
He was lodged in the Mason County Jail after his sentence was amended today to include seven days in jail and that he must submit to random preliminary breathalyzer tests.
The initial incident that brought Baxter to court was Oct. 18, 2012, in Scottville. Baxter drove his truck to the bottom of a ravine off Elm Street.
