Six arsons in Kent County; $5,000 reward offered

KENT COUNTY, Mich. (WZZM) -- The Kent County Sheriff's Department is investigating the whether a string of six arsons in the past three months are related.

Wednesday evening, authorities ruled four garage fires that occurred in December and January at the Woodfield Apartment Complex in Gaines Township are all arson.

Below is a chronological list of the Woodfield garage fires:

6242 Woodfield Place SE (Dec. 10, 2012 at 11:42 a.m.)
6262 Woodfield Place SE (Dec. 17, 2012 at 9:48 p.m.)
965 Woodfield East Drive SE (Jan. 2, 2013 at 11:47 p.m.)
6095 Woodfield Drive SE (Jan. 9, 2013 at 8:37 p.m.)

Police are also investigating two vehicle fires in Byron Center and Gaines Township:

8600 Eldora Drive SW (March 2, 2013 at 1-4 a.m.)
7304 Forsythia Ave. SE (March 3, 2013 at 3:27 a.m.)

The Michigan Arson Prevention Committee is offering a $5,000 reward for any information leading to the conviction of the arsonist. The Kent County Sheriff's Department is asking anyone with information on any of the fires to call (616) 632-6100 or Silent Observer at (616) 774-2345, or the Michigan Arson Prevention Committee at (800) 44-ARSON.
