MUSKEGON, Mich. (WZZM) -- City leaders in Muskegon are preparing for summer by putting out a request for proposals for a closed restaurant space right on the beach.

The restaurant that had operated at the space defaulted on a land-lease it had with the city. The space does need some improvements. Muskegon Mayor Steve Gawron hopes to find the right person and business plan to keep the building in use.

"We hope talented, credible individuals can present the city with potential plans so we can get something running sooner than later. And that is so our beach-goers can maybe have an evening out with maybe a burger and a beverage and enjoy the beauty of Pere Marquette Park," says Gawron.

WZZM 13's Facebook friends have several ideas for the space.

Mary suggests, "A small shop that sells reasonably priced stuff that you may have forgotten -- like sunscreen, swimmers, and beach toys."

Alicia says, "What about something family friendly in the day that turns over at night into something for adults?"

And Delores thinks, "McDonald's and Burger King" would be a good idea.
