GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) -- The Grand Rapids Downtown Development Authority Wednesday morning received the final 'visioning plan' for land south of the Van Andel Arena.
For the first time, the plan defines how to develop the properties, which are currently used as parking lots and are owned by the DDA. It includes two conceptual plans to develop up to 2.8 million square feet of new residential, commercial, and retail space.
It's estimated construction on the land could range from $350-$675 million. The hope is it would generate tens of millions of dollars for the city.
The plan also calls for an enhancement of neighborhood parks and establishment new incentives to promote market-rate housing.
