The Palisades Nuclear Power Plant near South Haven.
(WZZM) - The Nuclear Regulatory Commission has released its report on the recent release of slightly contaminated water from the Palisades Nuclear Power Plant in South Haven.
The Commission says that the amount of radiation that was released to the public was 0.002% of the federal limit and therefore would not have any harmful health effects.
The Commission does say that the release was unplanned and should not have happened.
On May 6, 79 gallons of slightly radioactive water leaked into a basin holding several thousands of gallons of non-radioactive water, which then was released into Lake Michigan.
